“You want to hire someone that’s honest, smart, and hardworking. You want to look for those traits in that order because if they’re dishonest, you’d strongly prefer they are dumb and lazy.”–Warren Buffet
As I progress further and further into my career, high-trust relationships become an incredible asset. Being honest is not only one of important elements brought up by my parents, but also makes me a highly-valued part within my multi-functional teams.
Dishonesty often comes in two forms.
The first form of dishonesty is lying, cheating or stealing. Ask yourself a few questions during your career: Does someone try to convince you that 1+1=10 when they know full well that 1+1=2?; Does someone play fair with you, or do they try to gain an advantage over you through trickery?; Does someone steal from you when you are not looking?
The second form of dishonesty is whether someone’s words match his/her actions, or vise versa his/her words match his/her words. This form is more about congruence rather than malice or intent to deceive. (Something a good manager needs to watch out)
No matter what life period you are in, being honest always pays off everything and makes things easier.

Further thought if you have some more time to watch the old black comedy movie “Being There” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Being_There) about a middle-aged, simple-minded guy who is call Chance “Garden” — It is a profoundly interesting story.
